60 Seconds of Distance

by allen l. sowelle

60 Seconds of Distance is one story with three interwoven episodes of teenage boys, called upon to be men as they struggle to create distance between themselves and life on the streets.

In 60 we’ll meet Daniel, a responsible, soft-spoken poet in a hardhat world. He aims to do the right thing by his family only to realize the shadow of his past has cast an inescapable net.

JT, defiant, yet deftly aware of his role in society’s view of juvenile justice, has made a decision to advance his life at the risk of losing his freedom.

Maurice, looking to escape the mundane conventions of his Muslim family, must choose between joining the Marines or making a run for it in the precarious world of the drug game.

Inspired by the lives of the principle young actors, all formerly incarcerated youth, and set against the City by the Bay 60 Seconds of Distance asks, when life comes at point black range, how would you fill the next minute?
